Sharing Notes

First of all, know this...I LOVE MY CHURCH! It is the first church I have ever been in that I truly feel the Lord working. Godly preaching + amazing church family = wonderful house of God! Wednesday nights are some of the best sermons I hear. They are all good, no doubt, but there is just something special about Wednesday nights.

I always take notes during church.  I love to re-read them over and over.  I gain so much by doing this.  Today, a good friend of mine had to deal with a very angry & bitter person. So when I got home from church, I immediately pulled these sermon notes.  SHARE, SHARE, SHARE...that's what I preach to my children and so I thought I would do the same!

JESUS' TEACHINGS ON ANGER AND BITTERNESS
Notes from a Wednesday night sermon by Pastor Jeremy Morton

Matthew 5:21-26 (NIV)
Murder
21 "You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder,[a] and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.' 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother[b]will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca,[c]' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.

23 "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.

25 "Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way, or he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. 26 I tell you the truth, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*Those who are guilty of unjust anger toward a brother are subject to judgment or are in danger of the fire of hell.

*Jesus says we have no business "NAME CALLING". HE says that name calling is just as bad as murder.

*HE understands that we will have times when we will be angry but
"BE ANGRY AND NOT SIN".

UNJUST ANGER WILL RUIN TWO THINGS:

1. our worship with God
2. our relationships with others
(both of these are very important to God and His plan for us)

THE WISDOM OF A MAN IS MEASURED BY THE SIZE
OF THE THING THAT MAKES HIM ANGRY.

*We must be sensitive to our emotions-keep them in check!
*Practice humility!
*Be quick to settle disputes within reason.
*Filter anger and bitterness through the GOSPEL.

25 or you may learn his ways

I will leave you with some words from one of
my most favorite songs...

And though these are days of great trial,
Of famine and darkness and sword,
Still, we are the voice in the desert crying
'Prepare ye the way of the Lord!'

  1. Behold He comes, riding on the clouds, shining like the sun, at the trumpet call...

That being said...There is no God like Jehovah!!
    Love you, Mel!!
